Well, after 13 days I finally got to talk to the gyn. I left messages every day and I am sure they were sick to death of me. Last night she and I finally connected and I got some answers. It seems that I have some small cysts on both ovaries but I'm not supposed to worry about them and they will probably go away. What I do need to worry about is the "something" that seems to be taking up space inside my uterus. She's not sure whether it's a thickening of the lining or a polyp or something else. So, we are going to do a biopsy on Monday afternoon. Oh goodie. Another gynocological procedure without anaesthetic. They will pry the cervix open (ouch) and take a piece of whatever is in there to look at it. She told me to take 800 mg of ibuprofen beforehand to help with the intense cramping this will cause. "It will hurt a lot for 15 seconds or so and then be really bad cramps for a while". Makes you all want to run right out and have it done, right? The good thing is that it explains why I have been experiencing cramps all the time. My uterus is trying to get rid of whatever is in there.

In other news, nothing much is happening knitting wise. I have been feeling very tired at night. I think it's because of the stress of the upcoming procedures. I am steadily working on the second McGreggor's garden sock so I can gift them to Emily and I am almost done the Spey valley socks for Peter Kevin. That training class gave me lots of time for plain brown sock knitting.

The lovely spring flowers are spewing lovely spring pollen into the air which my sinuses just love. I feel like there is a brick on my head. I'd give almost anything for a sudafed. The trees are so beautiful with their flowers. It always amazes me that one day they're naked and the next, they are clothed in beautiful greeness. Except for the pollen thing, I love spring.

Well, meeting time. Gotta love meetings where nothing is said and nothing is done. Time wasters.

I am sorry about the biopsy and about the 13 days' wait. Really sorry on both. They can't use a little bit of some pain killer?

I used to work for our Girl Scout Council. I spent more time in meetings than anything else, and it was such a WASTE of time. If I could have just been left to do my job, already! And there was this top-down attitude that we all had to agree on everything before anything could get done. Why? It was absolutely maddening.

Try to think of something pleasant, like knitting.

Poor nice lady! That sounds like it sucks rather much. I will cross my fingers for you that all goes well and that the intense cramping turns out to be an overstatement for once. I'm thinking of you.

I hope it's just a fibroid - although I didn't think they did biopsies for those so maybe it's not? I had one and then I didn't. They come and go. Fingers crossed for you Donna Lee.

Gah, sounds unpleasant. Thinking of you and hoping it's all over soon with little drama.

Holy jeebus...pry it open and take a piece? Good lord. Who said penis envy wasn't real??? They can't give you anything for the actual procedure? The crap we endure. Stay strong chica--I'll be thinking of you!

Sorry to hear about your upcoming procedure. Hopefully they will find out what is going on so they can fix it and get rid of those cramps entirely. That ongoing pain really can drain your energy.

Arizona has pollen filling the air too and I've been sneezing like crazy. Out here it is olive trees that are the worst.

Ewww. One hopes that after having your quota of children that there will be no fiddling in the nether regions... I hope it will turn out to be swift, and painless!

My thoughts are with you, hope its not too ghastly. Ive had a couple of procedures involving similar cervical prying (not related to childbirth so none of those nice pain-masking hormones!), so Im really thinking of you. Hugs.

You know, you CAN insist on sedatives if you want. It even makes the doctor's job easier, since the cervix relaxes more and makes that biopsy easier to get. Just make sure you have someone to drive you home. Why be heroic if you don't have to? And with 13 days to wait, you have time to get those meds perscribed.

No Sudafed? At all? Can you buy it in another state? We can still buy it from the pharmacist here in Oregon. You just have to show ID and sign for it, and if you buy more than a box at a time, they double check to makes sure you really live where you say you do.

Oh, man...that biopsy sounds just horrific! I'll send good thoughts your way and some uterine relaxing type vibes. I can't believe they don't use more painkillers for something like that. We have the technology, for heaven's sake!

::hugs:: It's gonna be fine. I just know it.

Can't they just knock you out or something? Hope it's short and sweet for you.

My prayers are with you! Please do ask for something stronger, I know that I would... :(
I hope it all goes well....

oooo hope your procedure goes ok...but on the bright side, at least you CAN take ibuprofen...

I guess I am going to be a pain here. Get it taken care of. I am a 10 year cervical cancer survior . Yeah , it hurts but better safe than sorry. Ask for some thing for the anxiety , it will help. Might ease the cramping. Hoping for the best and saying a prayer.
Hugs , Kris

I'm with the people who suggested asking for a sedative or something - sometimes I think doctors don't offer it immediately, but it is possible if you ask. No need to have the pain if you don't need to (if you know what I mean!). And if you can't take anything else, maybe you can take your knitting?

Happy Sunday!  I am sitting here working on my sweater made with the cashmere yarn my husband gave me for my birthday last year. I’m further...
