I was at work yesterday when I started to feel really cold and shivery. Then I was hot. Then cold. I got all shaky and had a hard time focusing on things. My first thought was "Oh shit, I made fun of the flu shot and now I've got the flu". I left early and went home to put on some warm pajamas and sleep. I woke up feeling less fuzzy and was soaked so I guess I broke the low grade fever I was running all yesterday. That would explain the headache and fuzzy feeling. Today, I sat around in my pj's and dozed off and on. I did some knitting but not much. Not enough brain power. I am planning to go back to work tomorrow. We'll see how the morning goes.

I did work some on PK's Spey valley sock. I opted to only do 3 pattern repeats of the design. I am now into the ribbing down the foot. The yarn is so soft and fuzzy that the pattern doesn't show up very well and I thought it was enough. I like the way they feel. Soft and comfortable.

I also snuck outside to snap a photo of one of my favorite signs of spring. This is a crocus in the bed in my front yard. There are a lot of bulbs in the bed and if the squirrels didn't eat them all, we should have some daffodils soon. I love daffodils. They are so happy looking. The bed under the windows still looks like this. Those are mums. Some are yellow, some are purple and some are deep maroon. They look dead at this point. But if you dig under the leaves, there are some green shoots there. When it really starts to warm up, the end of March, we'll rake the leaves off and cut back all the dead parts to make room for the new growth. There are some bulbs in the front of the bed but they were some we found in the garage and we're not quite sure what they are or how old they are. We'll just wait and see what comes up.

For now, we still have trees and skies that look like this. I feel like there hasn't been much sun this winter. There have been a lot of cold rainy days and a lot of grey days. Today the sun came out for a little while and I could feel my spirit lift. Then it was gone. And the clouds came back. Sigh. I am ready for spring.

Hope you're feeling better. I like the idea of planting "mystery bulbs" and being surprised when the weather warms up!

Wouldn't it be fun if your mystery bulbs were lillies? Good luck and hearty bloom to all your bulbs. All those grey days require a bright shot of color therapy.

Sorry to hear about the fluish thing. I went therough similar symptoms but thought it was food poisoning. Glad you are feeling better. A pajama day is good for the soul!

Me, too. I'm ready for spring, too. It's sunny today, but about 22 degrees. The weather man helpfully let us know that's about 20 degrees colder than it should be. Why even tell us that, I want to know?

I hope you feel better soon. The hot/cold/dizzy thing is no fun at all.

Daffs are some of my favorites too. I have heard, and I believe it is true, squirrels won't eat the daff bulbs (or flowers) because they are poisonous. I can't grow tulips for anything because the get eaten by the squirrel. The crocus can grow, but do get munched. Hope you feel better!

For what it's worth, the flu shot might not have helped you. I'm hearing that they miscalculated what was going to be this year's fashion in viral-wear and we are all getting it anyway. I was shot. And it looks like I might have the flu...

But, those pictures of springish stuff sure did me a world of good! I haven't seen the ground in what feels like forever! It snowed more today. Sheepie tired of snow!

Yick. You got the crud going around. But hey, spring made it to S. Jersey--N. Jersey can't be far behind. Hope you feel unfuzzy in a non-knitting way soon!

hope you are feeling better - unfortunately the flu shot wouldn't have done any good - I've had it twice already this season and I had the shot :-(

Yeah--if it's not going to snow, I feel like the cold just isn't worth it. I'm so glad you're feeling better.. a day just to nap and knit... sounds heavenly (if you're not sick!)

I got a bagful of mystery bulbs from my SIL that she never got around to planting. In January, they had little leaves poking up about an inch above the ground, and since then they've been buried in snow. I can't wait to see what they're going to be.

(Not lilies, though: I have a lot of different lilies and these were smooth most-likely tulip-y bulbs.)

Happy Sunday!  I am sitting here working on my sweater made with the cashmere yarn my husband gave me for my birthday last year. I’m further...
