Sock Wars has begun! The patterns have been released and I'm waiting for them to print out. And then I'll be casting on and knitting my heart out!
Wish me luck.

It's been six months since my last post. I wish I could say it was because Life was so boring there was nothing to write about but that is not the case. 2016 has been an interesting year. So, let's explore what's been going on in my neck of the woods. In January, we attended the memorial for Peter Kevin's sister. It was lovely, as these things often are. Her daughter (who looks so much like her mother, it was eerie) gave a wonderful and loving eulogy and the minister kept calling my brother in law Ronald, "Roland". We thought there was another man involved somewhere..... In February, I learned to make Danish. These are just out of the oven before they were glazed. Oh my goodness they are good. The pastry is buttery and not sweet and the fillings (which came out of a can) were so tasty. Peter Kevin liked them more than the ones we get at the bakery. In Feb, I was Employee of the Month and Peter Kevin turned 58 (so he can stop calling me the older woman). I…
I think Sunday afternoon is one of my favorite times of the week. Usually, everything is already prepared for the upcoming week (my bag is packed and my laundry is done), dinner is in the oven (tonight roast chicken with mashed potatoes and fresh green beans) and it's a time for walks, movies, books and just plain spending time with my husband. The house smells delicious as the chicken cooks. Yesterday I made a loaf of a citrusy challah We had it for dinner last night with a spinach quiche. I fixed dinner for my friend's birthday. We played games and ate hot fudge sundaes. She doesn't like cake (I know! How can that be possible? But it's true) so I got iced cream and hot fudge and whipped up some cream. It was a good substitute for birthday cake. I made a sweater and some tiny socks for a coworker's new granddaughter. I love this color for a baby. It's not typical and pastel. I am working on finishing up my wips and then I want to collect all the bits …
Here it is another Monday Morning. It's cold. The car was covered with frost and needed a good scraping this morning.
We had a wonderfully restful long weekend at Chez Wood. Wednesday after work, Elanor and I baked pumpkin and apple pies. Thursday we got up and put the turkey into the oven and then got prepared to watch some parades.
To quote Inigo Montoya, "I don't think that means what I think it means.....". In my mind, when you say Parade, I envision marching bands and floats and some movement down a street. The parades in Philadelphia and NYC have become production numbers and not so much parades. They have performances by dance troupes and singers in staged areas and there is a decided lack of marching bands. Being a former band geek (a majorette for years), they are my favorite part.
Em and Jim came for dinner and it was good. We had a good meal and talked and just enjoyed each other's company.
Friday, Pk and I planned to go to the grocery sto…
